I Hate You

By Alexandra Keane (’20)

I hate you
The way my dog hates his toy
But can’t go anywhere without it.
I hate you
The way my brothers hate me when I tease them
But still hug me at the end of the day.
I hate you the way teachers hate their students when they act up
But forgive them and move on.
I hate you the way some people wish they would just die
But then realize that they have more to live for.
I hate you
The way a girl hates the guy who broke her heart
But doesn’t want to lose him.
I hate you when you lie
But I love you when it’s just me, you, and the truth.
