Contests

We’re thrilled to be hosting a number of contests for the 2025-2026 Academic Year!

Cover Image Art or Photography Contest

This year’s theme is about responding to the world around us–whether that response is soft or loud, personal or communal; social or political. How do you see response?

We are looking for a cover piece (art, photography, digital media or design) that reflects our theme. To submit your work for consideration, use the same submission link as our fiction/poetry/nonfiction writers.

  • First Place Winners will receive a $25 gift card and their image will be used for the Cover for the 2025-2026 edition of Hemetera.
  • Second & Third Place Winners will be published in Hemetera and will receive $5 gift cards.

First Year Writing Contest

This year, we are partnering with the First Year Writing Program and their annual contest. Students currently enrolled in First Year Writing Courses (EN 105 and EN 106) are eligible to submit their Narrative or Personal Essays. Contest-winners will automatically be offered a place in Hemetera, alongside their prize from the Writing Program at Regis College. Students can submit their personal narrative essays directly to professors by December 15.

First Year Writing Contest Call for Submissions

The Writing Program at Regis invites all first-year students to submit a copy of their EN105 personal narrative essay assignment to our annual contest celebrating undergraduate writing. You do not need to make an explicit connection to the Common Read in your essay; any genre is welcome.

To be considered for the contest, you must have submitted your essay to your professor by the FYW Contest deadline in the fall semester (Fa25: 11:59 p.m. December 15, 2025).   *Cash awards presented to 5 finalists in the spring semester at the Social Justice Symposium.
